Junior Delgado first came to prominence in the early seventies as part of the vibrant and boundarybreaking jamaican music scene.

His first singles to gain recognition were recorded with the group time unlimited in coolaboration with such luminaries as Lee Perry and Joe Gibbs.

Junior also worked with Big Youth on a devastating 1975 version of the 23rd psalm.
Under the name The Heavenly Singers junior's group cut "run baldhead" and "rasta dreadlocks" for producer Rupie Edwards.

"really for a reason" found junior solo and in impressive form.
This early phase of junior's career peaked with majestic "Sons Of Slaves" (1976), again for Lee Perry.

These early works demonstrated that junior was possessed of a voice of unusual power and emotional intensity.

Over the next few years junior (or "jux" as he is sometimes known) released a diverse selection of classic records for a wide variety of labels.
His collaborators from this period continue to read like a who's who of the reggae scene:

Augustus Pablo, Joe Gibbs, Sly And Robbie amongst many others.

Originally released in Jamaica on the incredible label in 1978 in an edition limited to just 500 copies,
Junior Delgado's "dance a dub" album contains heavy dub mixes of tracks from junior's own "effort" album,
which was recorded for Dennis and Castro Brown's deb label.

The groundwork for the album was laid by Earl 'Wire" Lindo and Earl 'Chinna" sSmith alongside Junior Delgado.

Keyboard overdubs were provided by Augustus Pablo.
Leroy Sibbles plays bass on "dance a dub", "herb eye", "mister dub" and "hooligan stew". The latter is a version of bob marley's "caution".

"mister dub" is adapted from the "effort" track "she's gonna marry me" which was written by the group shades.

All of the dub versions were given their titles by junior, except "herb eye" and "hooligan stew" which were titled by Dennis Brown.

Limited quantities of "dance a dub" on the incredible music and mr nobody labels reached the uk in the late seventies, but this classic album has long been unavailable.
Eighteen years on, "dance a dub" is at last widely available, and appears on cd for the first time ever.

Some of the original master tapes has been digitally remastered and compiled from the best available sources with the full co-operation of Junior Delgado.
